Broad Smiles

Location

Zimbabwe

Your smiles are lipstick deep

Never to permeate into your heart;

That centimeter wide smile

Veneers your chicanery.

When you are in need

Your gorgeous, yet pretentious smile strands

Embroidering your face with wrinkles and dimples-

Hiding the malicious thoughts you house-

The thoughts that even haunt you.

Beneath those broad smiles you articulate impromptu politeness.

I don't trust broad smiles.

Even robbers smile,

Murderers smile,

Dictators smile the broadest.

I do not trust broad smiles.
