Breathe

"Breathe." They say.
But how can you breathe when your lungs don't share their breath.

"Breathe." They say.
But how can you breathe the air you need when you are drowning in chaos.

"Breathe." They say.
But how can you breathe when your mind forgets how to.

"Breathe." They say.
But how can you breathe when it feels like the is no air to breathe?

"Breathe." They say.
Finally you decide to listen after a time that can kill you.
You breathe deep.
You feel your lungs open their arms to the air.
You feel the chaos in your head untangle with every deep breath you take.

But what if this didn't always work?

It happens again.

"Breathe." They say.
You try.
It doesn't work.
Your lungs push away the breath you take in.
Your brain tightens the puzzle of chaos.
You sit breathless, worried, scared.

"What do I do?" You ask.
"Just breathe." They say.
