Is That a Boy or a Girl?

Location

"Is that a boy or a girl?"

Asked the random girl reffering to my friend after a school assembly

"How is their gender relevant to you?"

Asked the friend who's sick of cisgender entitlement to another person's gender

Asked the friend who never cared about gender or understood why it mattered

Asked the person who thinks that if you really care about a person's gender, you should get to know them and ask them yourself

And if you're not willing to do that, their gender really isn't important to you

Asked the person who thinks that how a perso sees themself when they look in the mirror everyday is not a stranger's business

As if you're allowed to know whether or not that stranger hates their body and how it's seen

As if any of that would matter to you

You just want to reassure yourself about what you assumed their gender was

You just think that you deserve to know about a person's self-image, because you were taught that it should matter to you

"Is that a boy or a girl?"

The answer is no

No, you're not going to get to know that person's gender

Their gender should mean nothing to you
