She pushes the blade deeper;

Her wrist she lets bleed.

Tears stream from her eyes.

She just wants to scream.

She bleeds out the anger, the fear and the hate.

Something to which we cannot relate.

Her life just causes too much pain.

Every dusk, through night terrors does she weep.

She is so tired

But so scared to sleep.

She bleeds out the pain

In her nightly routine.

All the while asking,

“What do these night terrors mean?”

Ever deeper appear her scars,

As they track up both of her arms.

With a jacket, these marks she hides,

But you can still see the pain in her eyes.

Not a tear will be shed in front of anyone;

She chokes them back until she’s alone.

Will anyone ever see the pain

That she tries to bleed away?

She keeps putting the blade to her arms.

She searches for a solution

But only brings harm,

Searching for a temporary escape.

Her relief, it doesn’t last.

Cutting does not erase her past.

Who will see what she tries to hide?

Who will look past the web of lies?

Clearly this girl isn’t “fine”.

This girl needs a way out,

For someone to care

That she lives this constant nightmare.

Who will notice?

Who will see

That the girl who suffers silently is me?

She pushes the blade harder;

Further it goes in.

Like a knife through paper,

The razor breaks her skin.

This girl who is torn apart,

She now has arms full of scars.

No one sees, and no one knows

Her pain because she never lets it show.
