A Black Night

Brutality littered her neighborhood,
Am I "hood", because I live in the hood?
Helicopters devoured the dark sky,
Screams and yells were her lullaby.
"Change is soon" as she admires the moon.
Its beauty gives her hope,
"we've come a long way from lynching with rope".
Dad is living for tomorrow’s generation,
late night planning shows that no minute is wasted.
"We are panthers of the night,
today we will live, and tomorrow we strike, guided by the moon and concealed by the black night."
