Black Man/White Cop

WHITE COP/BLACK MAN

White Cop, White Cop, why do you kill me?

Why don’t you see me? Why don’t you value me?

Am I nothing to you?

White Cop, White Cop, aren’t you supposed to protect me?

Black Man, Black Man, why don’t you see me?

Why do you fear me? I don’t hate you I want to protect you.

Black Man, Black Man, why do you fight me?

I’m not here to oppress you, but to serve you.

White Cop, White Cop, I do see you!

I see you as an oppressing force trying to kill me!

I fear you because of men like you. I fight, I fight to live!

White Cop, White Cop, you don’t serve me!

Black Man, Black Man, I don’t want to kill you!

It terrifies me to take a life! But it terrifies me to lose mine as well!

Black Man, Black Man, I do see you and don’t understand you.

I see you as a powerful force that appears to be out of control.

White Cop, White Cop, why don’t you value me? Aren’t we all the same?

My skin is darker than yours and my hair is courser than yours!

White Cop, White Cop, what else can it be?

Black Man, Black Man, I have regrets. I regret that I used dogs and fire

hoses on you. I regret that I bombed one of our Father’s houses of worship.

I regret that I haven’t always valued you. I regret I haven’t seen you

in the same lens of being loved and adored by our Heavenly Father.

Black Man, Black Man, help me to understand you. Will you help me to

get to know you? Will you put aside your own fear and get to know me?

Black Man, Black Man, How do WE change the world?

How do WE make the difference?

White Cop, White Cop, its simple, Love God and Love People!

If we love God and Love people everything changes!

White Cop, White Cop, despite your actions I love you brother!

Black Man, Black Man, forgive me for the way I have looked down upon you.

Forgive me for the way I have treated you.

Black Man, Black Man, will you stand shoulder to shoulder with me as we fight our enemy.

Black Man, Black Man, I love you too my brother!

Black Man, White Cop, We just want to be loved, heard and understood!
