Black Letters

It was a dark and stormy night and I remember feeling nothing when I walked into the cold clammy room. As I approached the crimson colored casket, I felt a chill travel down my spine. The corpse was a pale, cream color that portrayed a sense of beauty. I gave my respects and suddenly became aware of the halls surrounding this room. I had to investigate, it was only natural. When I stepped out of the visitation room a heat wave hit me and I was suddenly sweating. I thought to myself how strange it was but went on not thinking about it. I started down the hall and got the feeling that something was wrong. As I turned to my left a beautifully crafted, wooden door stood tall next to me, looking invincible and intimidating. I grew curious of this door; something drew me to it, something I didn’t have a good feeling about but something I had to explore. Something that wasn’t apart of this world, that would take me to another place, that I had no control over. Suddenly I found the strength to open it, I grabbed the, surprisingly warm, door know and as I turned it, there was an old rusted sound. The door is opened and the mausoleums eerily warm current is coinciding with the coolness of the hallway. Somehow there is life beyond the large marble bricks that create the white walls.
I walk through the aisles and start to wonder why I am here. What is so interesting to me that I have to be here? It’s quiet, there’s nothing. I travel through the maze room and come to an abrupt stop. The piece of marble, decorated with a picture and flowers, catches my attention. In the picture there is a beautiful girl, but when you look deeper you can see the sadness and hurt. I acknowledge the picture for a moment but am drawn to something else. A dark figure, just ahead. As I looked closer I noticed that it is the little girl from the picture. She had on a blue dress, white stockings, and black shoes. Her hair is as dark as the black abyss. I looked deep into her eyes and saw the sadness and hurt that projected from those green eyes. I look cautiously back at the picture, and then turned my attention to the marble stone grave, and read my name in black faded letters.
