A man once dream t the world to be,
But it was cold and dark.
So to give his creation meaning,
He gave it a little spark.

The stars were born,
And so impressed was he,
That he took the brightest one,
And pulled it from the blackened sea.

He called it his "child",
And it was bright and white,
But he was not yet satisfied,
For what became of the night?

He took the dark and held it close,
And told it promises he would keep;
He too gave it life and meaning,
And at once it began to weep.

The white liked not its brother of black,
And at once they began to brood.
So to keep them apart and calm,
He put them upon Earth nude.

They lived apart awhile,
In times of lasting relief,
But soon the brother enslaved the other,
And gave upon him grief.

Many ages came and went,
The stars and moons had waned,
But White and Black were foes,
And played their little game.

But then one fateful day,
Black asked "why do we fight"?
White had answered,
"Because you have no rights".

Black had pondered on this,
And refuted "Why is this our curse"?
White said "That's easy,
Because we were created first.

And then you came along,
You the many and us the few...
So for us to survive,
This we must subdue".

Black at once had understood,
"This was not our intention...
If you were truly threatened;
Why this you did not mention?"

White could not answer,
But gave his brother a glance,
"Why did you not destroy us
When you had the chance?"

"We told you why:
We wish not to fight.
We are related:
The darkness and the bright.

We can live as one,
Side by the other's side...
All you need is trust...
In us...you can confide."

White was afraid,
But he set his brother free,
And when he did not kill him,
White had then believed.

And so they solved their differences,
And ceased their age long fight...
They were as one and thus is why,
We have our civil rights.
