With prefect subtlety
It creeps in.
Woven in the words that you speak;
A part of the air that you breathe out.

Like a fading scare
I'm subconsciously aware
Of its presence,
But don't notice it seep inside me.

Then without warning,
It takes control.
Small things built up over time;
Slowly breaking down my trust.

I begin to question,
I started to doubt,
What you really think of me.
Little moments replay in my mind.

I take a step back
And realize its effect
Something seemingly small
Destroyed something so beautiful.
