Being prepared

Lamentations 4:2                   New English Translation

2 The precious sons of Zion were worth their weight in gold—

Alas!—but now they are treated like broken clay pots, made by a potter.

Romans 10:4

New English Translation

4 For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.

Being prepared in and for a lifetime

If I am a vessel of emptiness at the moment of my birth

And the “fall” is lingering on in the substance of mankind

Within the human structure, there still remains great worth

For the newborn in every creed and that is quick to find

My emptiness gets filled somehow by the environment it begins

The love of Mom and Dad and of the other available relatives

Then by friends, church, and the schools and town, I’m living in

If I achieve about above average, my growth seems then relative

The foundation is simply based by one stone and then another

Experiencing love, hate, and indifference develop at different rates

Maybe in the span of time of things, there may be one real difference

Is in the matter of spiritual growth and that’s where I’m really raised
