Behind Closed Doors

Out in the open,

I'm bright as can be.

I chirp like a bird,

and buzz like a bee.

But when I’m all alone,

I’m wasting away.

I’m sad and depressed,

and dreading the day.

I have to do this myself.

It’s my burden alone.

I don’t expect you to care.

How could you have known?

that this is me,

my true self indeed.

I wouldn’t expect you to know,

that I was ever in need.

But I still keep to myself.

I keep it inside.

So no one will know,

how much I have cried.
