Becoming Warm Again
I was stuck under your thumb
and you held me down until
your print was stamped onto me.
When you allowed me to escape,
your thumb hovered over my sun
and your shadow created storms.
And I thought the rain from
those storms were watering my life.
But, when your thumb found someone else,
the sun began to shine again.
Welcoming the warmth of the sun
was the hardest obstacle of my life.
I had lived with your storms
for so long that I had forgotten
what being warm felt like.
But once the sun warmed your ice away,
everything grew and became alive.
Everything became awesome.
