#BecauseILoveYou Scholarship Poem

Because I love you out of the mouth of someone who truly did would mean

I want to help you because I love you

I'm here for you because I love you

I would never hurt you because I love you

But out of yours it's

I hurt you because I love you and

It has worked so well

So well in fact that I have come to believe that if a presence didn't make my soul curl up in fear and my body shrink

Then they didn't love me

In fact, I begged for that horrid guttural feeling of dread

Because that was all I knew

But no longer

Because I love you

Or rather

Because I loveD you

I can't love you anymore
