Because You Love Me

The quiver on my lips
The bruises on my wrists
The fingerprints on my hips
Because you love me

The tears in my eyes
The torment every night
The satisfaction in your sighs
Because you love me

I run from your grip
I retaliate your hit
And from your claws I slip
Because I love me

You’ve shown me such abuse
You finally let loose
And I untied the noose
Because I love me

I think back on your face
How I finally escaped
I’m free from your disgrace
Because I love me

I now know what I am
And how tall I stand
Because of your harmful hand
Because I love me
