Because I Wish

Because I Wish...
Because I wish you were still here, you’re not

Because I wish I could hear your voice, I’m deaf

Because I wish I could see you again, I’m blind

Because I wish you could tell me you’re proud,

I remain relentless longing to hear your words

Because I wish you could meet the love of my life,

I look up to Heaven for a thumbs up; an approval

Of some sort

Because I wish I could send the pain I feel to oblivion,

My soul leaks tears of blood when I reminisce

Because I know you’re happy up there,

Sometimes I stare up into the sky and smile

Because I wish I could hear you again,

I leave my ears open to the chimes of the angels

Because I can’t EVER let you go, I hold on dearly

To your “dichos, sermones, enseñanzas y cantaletas”

Because I wish I could have conversations with you, I talk to myself

Because I wish you could tell me “Todo está bien, Amores,”

I anxiously await a whisper

Because I wish I could be rejoicing next to you,

God has told me to patiently wait…my time will come,

For now I shall make the best of what you and my loved ones gave me.
