Because I love you

Because I love you
I gave you my hand
I gave you my name
I gave you my future

For my love you traded
My hand for a bruise
My name for a curse
My future with pain

Because I love you
I hid the bruises
I hid the pain your wicked tongue inflicted
I hid my sorrow

Because of your love
My mind was scarred and my heart was broken
My eyes were broken dams in the midst of a war
My soul forever changed

Because I loved you
You destroyed me
And I allowed it
You hurt me
I hid it
You destroyed everything dear to me
And now I'm free

Because of your hate filled "love "
I left you behind
And now I can look into someone else's eyes
And hear the words
Because I love you.....

You are mine.
