Because I love you

Because I love you the love songs mean something to me again

I no longer want to skip them

Every word is an unsaid metaphor that sounds too much like your name

Because I love you I want to take care of myself again

You are the alarm clock that wakes me up in the morning

The warm hand that gently forces me out of bed

And feeds me waffles and mixed berries

Because I love you I am no longer sad

When I do not have the energy to love myself you do it for me

I am a flower picked from a meadow and placed in a glass vase

Slowly dying

Though you never once stopped watering me

You are the good hair day

The compliment I recieve occasionally

The bounce in my step

Because I love you, I can finally feel safe loving myself too

You told me that you hated the taste of lettuce and the first thought I had was

How I could live my life without ever eating it again

Why?

Because I love you.
