Is Beauty Enough?

My hair is tied up in a ball on my head

My shirt is stained and wrinkled

My face is natural- but scarred

I am beautiful, me, flawless.

I work to work and serve to serve

I just do what I need to do

My appearance- I don’t care

Being me is more important

Than what I am told to be

Beauty can be translated

But, not transferred

I may think that I am beautiful now,

But, the world may not agree.

What makes a girl beautiful?

Is it her perfect hair hanging gently down her shoulders?

Or is it her smile that can “light up the world?”

I hope not.

To me, beauty is love and caring and selflessness.

To me, beauty is knowing that you are doing the right thing.

Beauty is looking like I am in need of help-

When in reality, I am the giver.
