The Beautiful Grit

Location

Beauty.

Is that one word

really big enough?

It describes so much…

The pain she feels

when she looks in the mirror.

Sad, because she can’t

compare to the Barbie

two lockers down.

The separation

of the betters

and the lessers.

The difference is obvious.

The line drawn

between attainable

and out of reach.

The poor guy never

even had a chance.

The reason

for the blood

spattered on the pink carpet,

bright but not quite bubblegum.

Or the laxatives

on her dirty white counter,

polluted with the stench

of rotting food and stomache acid.

Beauty.

Is that word really

dirty enough to describe

All it stands for?
