Beautiful Decay

Too good to be true,
Me
And you.

People warned.
People judged.
But I didn't care.
I was falling in love.

A mysterious pair
As we stare
Into blank looks,
Once so full of life.

Loving, laughing,
Sappy and happy
We were once beautiful.

What happened
To us?
To the beauty in love.

It didn't perish suddenly,
No.
It decayed over time.

How?
How could we be so blind
As to let this happen?

And what are we now left to do?

Left with pathetic choices.
To try
Or let it die.

The odds are against us
And others are, too.

What to do,
What to do...

I know your answer already:
Nothing.

For you've transferred
Into a different soul
Oh, but
Such a beautiful decay.
