To this beautiful, crazy life: Thank you

We’re living in a world

Filled with doubt and worry.

I wonder what it’d be like

If we weren’t in such a hurry.

To stop and smell the roses,

People often suggest.

Do you remember the last time

you noticed nature’s dress?

We all get so caught up in

All the things that we want.

We focus on the details

And in those we all get caught.

Perhaps it isn’t about the who,

The what, the where, how many.

Instead, think of the feelings

And the blessing that are plenty.

Happiness isn’t about pursuit

As our forefathers said.

Happiness is a choice,

A creation in our heads.

The possibilities are limitless

If we just let them be,

but our minds get too specific,

make us question destiny.

See, we don’t have to know the answers

To how our lives play out.

That ruins all the fun and guessing

And the surprises on the route.

Let yourself be happy,

Have faith in all life’s tests.

Keep your head held high and persevere;

She’ll cover the rest.

Of all the awesome things

This world has to offer,

The fact that we get to live this life

Ranks higher than any other.
