The Beast Behind The Beauty

Why does she stand alone?

Why does she shy away from those who care most?

Why is the damsel in distress, still in distress?

Why does she stand alone?

How often does she wish that she were someone else?

How many times has she rejected genuine compliments?

How long does she spend concealing, contouring, lightening, and brightening her flawless face?

How often does she wish that she were someone else?

Who told her that she was not enough?

Who kicked her back down just as she built the courage to stand up?

Who closed the door as she knocked frantically?

Who told her that she was not enough?

It is the beast behind the beauty.

The pain behind the smile.

The brokenness among the laughter.

And the confidence that couldn't even reach a mile.

It is the beast behind the beauty.

Where she couldn't bear to say

"I am alright and I am okay."

It is the beast behind the beauty.

And the beauty swallowed her whole.
