To be heard

Location

They say ignorance is bliss,

that the ignorant mind is so peacefully at slumber,

from the gluttony plaguing the world outside.

They say that colored people in this country,

are not worthy of respect

or a kind smile.

They say immigrants are not people,

but aliens.

The same ones who rep their country and freedom,

lock people up to fill quotas.

They fail to see how racism and social injustice,

can poison a mind so quickly.

They fail to see that we are all one people,

same species of sapiens,

with a beating heart,

and emotions that make our skin crawl,

stomach jolt,

and eyes tear.

The same love,

the same despair,

yet we let the injustice and laws get in the way,

of true humanity and moral,

and let overrule all feelings of compassion.

We easily forget how blessed one is,

to be guaranteed a unified family.

Disregard it as normal,

let slip,

how many families out there,

fight to stay together.

Split into divergent countries,

over a piece of paper,

authorizing residency,

or not.

When in fact,

all is an illusion.

Nothing truly belongs to us.

When the soul leaves the body,

it does not take your loved possessions,

coach bags, touch screen phone, or audi.

Earth is here for us to reside and live.

Yet man attains all,

takes out the passion, love, beauty,

and turns it into nothing but greed.

Fills the mind with nonsense,

things one does not need.

For all must hear,

to be awaken from their sleep.
