Band-Aid

I was told I had a broken heart

I found out just today

It’s not the sappy love kind

It’s the more the other way

I was told it was all cut up

With clots here and there

They said I wouldn’t live long

It gave me quite the scare

They wanted to change my heart

Swap it with another’s

It was the first time they tried it

So the insurance didn’t cover

I told them all I needed was a band-aid

Just one to fix my heart

They didn’t want to hear it

So they put me in a cart

Well, it was an operation bed really

But little does that matter

I was whisked away to surgery

As fast as they could patter

I was told my heart was fixed

I didn’t believe it though

I was terribly sick

So I thought I’d let it show

It has been a week now

Since my broken heart was “saved”

I still don’t believe it though

All I really needed was a band-aid.
