Back to the Basics of Love

Tue, 11/07/2017 - 01:59 -- ahulick

Healthy relationships are uniform

All the same to make authentic and true

Trouble fits no one mold; there is no norm

Defeated and hopeless; unsure what to do

It is hard to stand up, hard to refuse

We accept an apologetic "I Love You"

Manipulation of those words confuse

What pure, self-less, honest love strives to do:

Love supports, surrounding us with shared trust

Love respects; wary of each boundary

Love communicates--to endure it must

Love inspires, giving us new goals to reach

Let's define the love that grows us, anew

Take back what it means to say "I Love You"
