"The Baby" (Inspired by Blake Shelton)

Although my family and I would around a lot,

one of my favorite memories was listening to music with the windows down.

This is one of the songs we would always listen to.

My brother said that I

was rotten the core.

I was the youngest so I got by with more.

Out of twelve children, I was the youngest.

My other sister would say that I was spoiled, but I never saw it that way.

Mom treated us the same.

I guess she was tired by

the time I came along.

She’d laugh until she cried,

I could do no wrong.

She would always save me because I was her baby.

She was a hard worker.

It didn’t take much for my mom to laugh.

I love her laugh.

No matter what happened, she would always defend us.

She was very protective.

She looked like she was sleepin'

and my family had been weepin'

by the time that I got to her side.

And I knew that she'd been taken,

and my heart it was breakin',

I never got to say goodbye.

I softly kissed that lady

and cried just like a baby.

These are the last lines to the song.

It’s such a beautiful way to end it.

It reminds me of when my sister found my mom dead.

We were both speechless.

We didn’t know how to handle it.

We just cried. (33)
