Assassins Ballad

With the demons creeping in

My mind turns over each sin

Each one simply something that no-one should see.

Blood and iron all the same

Gallows in a pretty frame

Watching your resistance simply slip away.

I didn’t ask for this life

But of course here I am right now

Holding a knife

Over someone

What have they done?

What have I?

Did they have a family?

Were they somebody like me?

If they were though surely they deserved to die.

Why am I like this?

I don’t know me

Who was I before

Death took me in?

Did I have a family?

Were there others just like me?

Doesn’t matter now lost my humanity.

I’m an assassin

Sure you know by now.

If death is my life

Does that make me dead?

I think I might be.
