Ask For Mercy

A thousand memories

Flooded my mind

She told us to relate

To ask for mercy

And I sang, and

I did not falter

Though tears streaked my face

I held my ground.

I am no longer

Going to allow his memories

To tear me apart;

I am now stronger.

And as I sang

My heart grew light

And with every tear that fell

I became a new life.

I’m tired of aching.

I’m no longer afraid.

And thanks to this music,

I can live again.
