The Artist

You were drawn to the painting;
her exaggerations of blacks.
You took her home and called her yours,
but she tainted you.
The darkness spread to your tears and you cried pure sorrow.
You could have known light,
You could have had me.
But you didn't.
So instead I wait,
Always the cartoon too bright for love.
