Around a Street Corner

Shadows lurk round sharp corners

I don't want to wander

The fear rests deep within

Movements slow to a near stop

My body halts, but my insides flip and turn

Everything warning me away

What will be beyond

One more step 'til I know

The cement drags me under

Darkness is my light

Fear rises to the surface, clear on my blank face

Dragging my unmoving remains

I unwillingly face my fate
