Aphrodite is not a Woman

Aphrodite is not a woman

and I know this because he's laying right next to me

they say the Athens believed in Aphroditus

but the husbands grew jealous of him

so they hid him from history

to be forever remembered as a her

He too rose from the foam water

silhoutted by the sun rise

a perfectly crafted eyesore

and at a risk of sounding too high school drama-y

I knew everyone would want him just as I did

how could you deny it wasn't him

his fingers grazed the grass beneath us

and I swear

they sung a tune for him

eyes that stirred themselves

filled with warm embrace and energy

like cups of coffee

my suspicions were realized

when he only drew near me

to ruin my relationships
