Any Questions?

“Are there any questions?” Are you serious?

Yeah, I guess you could say I’ve got some questions.

Like this one: Why am I here?

Why are you trying to teach me, again, something I learned the first twenty times?

Why won’t you help me with the problems I don’t understand, rather than hammering the ones I do know, over and over, into my head?

When will any of this actually matter to us in real life?

Don’t you realize that when you try to teach every subject under the sun instead of letting students focus in on what we really want to learn, we just end up learning nothing?

Aren’t you aware that I’m an honor student?

Is that standardized test next month the one that’s supposed to dictate the rest of our schooling and our lives and our entire futures?

If we’re the ones getting the education, shouldn’t the educators listen to us every once in a while?

Are you being serious when you say we’ll look back on these days with nostalgia when we’re old and gray? If high school is the best years of our lives, I don’t even want to think about the worst.

I think that’s about it. Wait, no, one more thing. This one’s super-important.

Will this be on the test?
