The Anti-Love Poem

Location

Who knew love could be anti?

In the books and movies you’re told that there’s happy endings.

Forever, and ever but you’re not told the other side of the story.

The side that is hidden to us, why?

The complications of love: lies, hurt, arguing, and loyalty

Lies come from the loyalty you provided

Arguing comes from the lies that seep through the loyalty

in which is wearing thin. Thin enough to see the real you.

All of this is wrapped under a Band-Aid of hurt.

The hurt in which you make me feel.

And then you wonder why I dislike love.

You know it’s hard for me to open up and express

And then when I finally do, it goes haywire…

Pull off that Band-Aid and this is what you reveal:

A scab of, over thinking 101, trust issues 200 and leave love alone 500

My thoughts and feelings mixed up

Advice from others don’t help

Trust is extremely low

Guess that’s what happens when you get caught

Everything I ever gave, said, felt for you is gone

My love for you has now become anti
