Anna, to Tomorrow

Anna, to Tomorrow
Rebecca Sidoti
2014

She is…
      The rabid monster
Hissing in my ears
                                       Coiling around my thoughts
She feels…
      Like everything I’ve lost
Her cold breath clawing my spine
                              Crawling gently toward my neck

I am…
Paralyzed; I can’t shake her off

I am…
Silent; she has stolen the words from my mouth

I am…
Defeated; I let her unclench my fists

She seeps through my skin, molding and shaping me
She engulfs my words with stutters
She drowns my thoughts with poison

She hugs me gently
She locks her eyes with mine
She cracks the mirror.
