Anguish

I groan as anguish rips through me,

Starting in my feet,

        A dull ache felt deep

In my bones,

Through my toes.

Creeping up through my veins,

Eating up my legs,

        A cramping that stays

In my limbs,

Through my arms.

Tingling, numbing, I can't seem

To feel my fingers,

        A pain that lingers

In my chest,

Through my breast.

        Digging its way inside-

Layer by layer,

        Deeper and deeper-

    Holding my conscience captive;

Plauging my mind,

        Bidding its time,

In my heart,

Through my soul.
