And I Wish it Didn't Hurt to Look at You

I miss holding your hand as you fell asleep.

Laying on your chest, listening to your breath

And the way you would adjust

So your legs were always touching mine.

I miss playing with your hair when you became restless.

The way you would scratch my back

When you thought I was asleep

And pull me closer to you.

I miss feeling your warmth at night.

Being awoken at two in the morning

By sleepy whispers

And your smiling lips on mine.

And I wish it didn't hurt to look at you,

To see your sad eyes lock with mine.

I only wish I could lay with you once more,

And hold your hand as you fell asleep.
