The American Dream

What is the American Dream?

Does it haunt the thoughts of our generation,

Like a nightmare before wake?

Or does it give a small glimpse of hope for the future,

And oppress the unfulfilled.

Does it motivate the youth?

Or rationalize that dreams never come true?

And shatter the hearts of the optimistic,

Like a child running with a vase.

Maybe the American dream is pure happiness in itself.

Like a rainy day, or a soft blanket.

Or maybe, just maybe, the American dream is everything unobtainable.
