Alone

Though the summer heat is at its peak

I am still alone

And the trees sway to the wind so weak,

But I am still alone.

The birds are ready for a cold air rush

I am still alone

And forest sounds descend to a hush

But I am still alone.

The green leaves slowly transform to ale

I am still alone

The once comforting rain hardens to hail

But I am still alone.

The world has dimmed from scarlet to white

I am still alone

And the melting snow reflects sunlight

But I am still alone.

Finally I see the first bud bloom

I am still alone

I hoped that the sun would bring warmth soon

But I am still alone.

And the waves and the wind just roll on by

I am still alone

And I ask myself “What for?” and “Why?”

But I am still alone.

After years have passed I understood

Why I am still alone

I could blame you and before I would

But I am still alone.

Never again will I wait for you

Because I am still alone

I'll care for myself and let go of you

And never again will I be alone.
