All I Need

If I am alone on a deserted island

What would I take with me?

Would food and water be on the beach?

Or just miles of salty sea?

I wonder how I would fare alone

What would I take with me?

Could I take a book that would run out of pages?

What use could that be?

It would just be me alone there

So what should I take with me?

Perhaps something that will make me happy

But just what would that be?

It would be something that will never run out

What exactly could it be?

Something that will keep me safe

Something that will always fulfill my needs

Only one thing keeps me joyful in this world

And what, you may ask, could that be?

Nothing else but the protection from my God in heaven

For He is all I will ever need
