I haven’t met you yet, but I have a question.
Our paths have never crossed and I have no idea who you are.
All the same I thought I should put together my thoughts so I know what to say to you later.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you.
I promise to take good care of you
And kiss you when you need me.
I do not yet know if you are a patient person, or if you enjoy poems and rhymes.
But I do know that if you are listening to me now, I see you as an essential part of my life.
Give me this moment to share what has been on my mind for a long, long time.
My dear friend, whose name I do not yet know,
Because no one understands me better than you.
With you I have shared all my secrets, and now I know all of yours.
I have never judged you and you have always been honest with me.
I would enjoy nothing more if you were to age with me.
I love the way you smile at me whether I speak or not.
The way you laugh is adorable and brightens my spirit every time.
Whenever you speak I am always interested in what you have to say.
I hope our children, because I know you want a few, have your beautiful eyes.
When they slip and scrape their knee, I want to see you hold them close.
I will need your company most, as you will need mine, when they grow older and leave our home.
There are certain words that are hard to say.
Even when we argue and complain,
You know the words I do not say mean more than those when I pout.
And when that dreaded day comes when one of us must leave,
I should let you know I will not be able to last.
You have become the strongest part of me.
Either I will join you soon for my heart is too heavy,
Or I will be watching over you with protective eyes,
For no one means more to me than you.
Dear friend of mine, whose name I do not yet know,
I love you, and need you so.
May you share your company and age with me?
