I am an African American Woman
And I was the lowest of the low in history.
Thank you Lincoln for helping set me free.
Thank you Mr. King Junior for speaking your dream.

I am an African American Woman
And I had no voice in history
Until Mrs. Rosa Parks refused to leave her seat
And now look at me.

I am an African American Woman
And, oh how things have changed since history.
Who would've thought I'd move from the fields of misery
To the white house, Mrs. Michelle Obama, helping run this country.

I am an African American Woman
And now forever my voice will ring through history.
The power of my thoughts will shape this country
For I am finally heard, we are all free.
