Dried up, tied up, embarrassed of the undesirable ache
I found you lying on the cold kitchen floor
writhing in pain from yesterday’s mistakes,
stuck in an indeterminate borderland between two places

Just yesterday you were twirling and spinning
almost hit your bony hip on the counter, now you’re far from it,
now the tile floor has felt your porcelain face
Dedicated to piercing misery, I stood above, fearful for you

Touched your elbow to see if you were awake
saw one eye open and I laid down next to you,
kept my arm wrapped around your waist, and desperately
tackled to absorb your sadness, and make empathy on the floor

It’s a deep cut, a deep deep cut, you needed me to know
Come with me here, I sighed into your vulnerable ear
Tearing through the poisonous chords sewn in your heart
I have reached affinity with you in the shadowland
