Advice from a Social Worker
The American Dream
Built on the Natives Foundation
White seeds planted in their soil
Europeans were in demand
Ships of culture,
Brought to this land.
Ownership, Power, Superiority,
Above all minorities.
The White American dream,
The proper name for it.
Oh say, can you see
Segregation is coming back to reality.
Many don’t understand
America is an Immigrant land.
People try to ignore it
Ancestors were affected
I was American born.
My family history is much more,
Who is America really great for?
A black women like me
Trained by society
That America isn't the place for me
To embrace myself
To grow rich in wealth
America was never great for my people
My African ancestors built this this land
This isn't about race,
It about the working poor,
A rich country yet poverty rates grow.
Women still make less money than men
Young girls with babies is the new trend
Benefits like food stamps are hard to get
Junk food is cheap
Then the poor folk get bad teeth.
Health care can't be afforded
White men in Red ties make regulations on abortions
Republicans and Democrats
Two political gangs
Last election proved anyone can be president
Thank you Obama
Two terms elected eight years served
We all saw him grey over time
History was refined
Yes We Can
Make America Great
Let's focus on us
Before we discriminate and Hate
Step 1 Think like a social worker
Hence that’s me
Engage with society
Experience life beyond what you see
Asses it all
Take recommendations
From the people for the people
Together we stand
Strategize on how to make
Life better not only for a man
Government are you listening?
We have to take a stand!
Make a plan!
Take a Chance!
Make a Change!
Public assistance programs,
Redefine the name.
Understand what we have it for
The working poor, the elderly, Disabled, Social Security,
World peace
Should be a goal
Stop digging America into a hole.
It cost a lot to survive
Minimum pay has to thrive
Make America Great
Not Again
The reason to this was to prove how we began
We were never great
But we can
Move,
Forward.
