Acid Rain

Where is the love when we all fight

My umbrellas cannot withstand the stinging pain

Despite my lust to make things right

Your words burn me like acid rain

Why does the raincloud hover so permanently

Over me throwing its toxicity everywhere

My lungs fight to be free

But are clouded with no air to spare

All the umbrellas I wasted over the years

Are scathed and burned, thrown in the trash

A daunting reminder of my robust fears

You strike up mighty Zeus with only one match

When did I become a target of animosity

And why did it ever start raining?

With not a warning of humidity

You lash out leaving me bleeding

I'd rather burn my skin than yours

So let it rain and I'll grow strong

I prefer peace over stormy wars

Can I bring the sun out by admitting I'm wrong?

Where is the love when we all fight

My umbrellas cannot withstand the stinging pain

Despite my lust to make things right

Your words burn me like acid rain
