Acceptance

Where is she going?
What did she find?
For reaching in front
She got left behind

Sweet tender soul
She opened her heart
And in rushed the demons
They ripped her apart

Love's an illusion
Where are her eyes?
Pupils are lost
By the blinding of lies

Battered and scarred
It tempts her to smile
If only because
She's been numb all the while

And nobody sees
What is behind her lashes
The heart that is bleeding
From sixty-nine gashes

And all of the poisons
She chose not to feel
Leave her so empty
Her mind will not heal

Tired of fighting
She lays in the fire
Done with believing
She kisses the liar

Lamb of the purest
Sweet innocence
Slaughtered until
She embraced acceptance
