She was held captive by the sea

Underneath clashing waves

Deep in a dark, secret place

Where no one could hear her scream

Where not even a salt tipped wind

Could caress her cheek

Nor a scorning sun ray lick her nose

She resided alone in an ocean she created alone

Above was laughter and fun

But she couldn't reach beyond her restraints

The bars around her heart were strong

A lost soul from long ago held the key

Bruised and bleeding

She beat the bars

"I want to be free," her heart lied

The love she lost tightened its hold

She was held captive by the sea

Above was a calm collective smile

As she drowned in despair

Where no one could hear her scream
