About me

Luke 22:24-27

The Disciples Argue About Greatness

24 Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ 26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

About “me”

Let me see the depth of it

With never going down

Let me hunger for righteousness

Without an appetite

Let me be a king somehow

But only for the crown

Let me be myself again

Who deserves about what’s right

Let me be your servant

So I can give others orders

Let me walk the narrow path

But decide where it goes

Let me be totally free

Within myself the burden

Let me be a leader

as everyone now knows

Let me be fully satisfied

As I gather more possessions

Let me rule your people

So everyone gets to know me

Let me have a palace in the sun

With all the window dressing

Let me be admired by everyone

So my humanity is for all to see
