About a Black Man

about a black man.

what is it that you can't stand?

black man can't even plant a gar-dan.

without meeting some type of oh-presh-shan.

about a black man.

why so much hate?

what is it about us so much that you cannot appreciate?

we simply want the same opportunities to create.

and to simply exist.

without the wish to dismiss us.

simply for our wish to exist.

about a black man.

do we not have much to offer?

nothing more but contributors to the jail coffers?

we can be pro golfers.

or I counter that with the determination we overcome to be doctors.

about a black man.

the line seems to stay drawn in the sand.

for where this black man can stand.

he unwantedly grabbed my hand.

this is the free world.

i do not understand.

This poem is about:
Our world
