2009 Sublime Naivety: I Know My Own Shadow

[unknown]

I know my own shadow,

From behind, to the front.

I know the shadow that stands behind me,

A series of events from the past with a face no ones eyes can see.

It's your history, like the back of your hand.

It's the only way in this world you will tell where you stand.

As the sun rises, my shadow will creep ahead of my body,

Showing me where I step to follow the path until I am finally free.

I know my own shadow,

I'm not surprised where it takes me.

Only when I am is when I forgot about my past,

When the light doesn't shine above and have forgotten how it's shaped me.
