“I’m sorry for dragging you into my storm

And for not telling you to go back inside

So you’d be safe,

But I liked kissing in the rain too much

As if our hearts alone would keep us warm.

I’m sorry you got wet

Because our souls are not stainless steel,

And I let you rust

Because the electrochemistry that also rules my heart and my mind

Corroded the places where our wounds were open

Because I never saw clearly.

I am sorry

I loved without care.”
